I am trying to earn to gate pass, I have found a small rail with soft ground underneath it. The problem is whenever I go to gatepass I either get too scared and stop, or I carry on and whack my hed off the rail. any advice?

If you are talking about a gate vault...then why are you trying to learn in on a small rail?
gate vaults are usually used on higher things, where you can hoist yourself up to waist, put a hand on the opposite side to steady yourself, then pivot over and land.
