I trick into long jumps pits at home, and then go onto the grass and do stuff. With backtucks I made myself do them on grass so I wouldnt get confined to doing them into sand. I think going into sand is good if you are going to drill tricks, doesnt put as much strain on ankles and knees etc.

In Sydney, I go off varying heights into sand, and for doing more riskier moves or for general mucking around. But grass is definetly good once you got tricks down better.

Only problem I think with sand is that you can lean back heaps when landing and still stick, whereas on grass you would slip over onto your arse.
