Default Best Excersise for a 12 yr old

Hi there

I recently have been climbing alot more and I do strugle lifting my body up. What excersise should me, a 12 year old do to improve my performance when scaling walls etc.

Is basic running good for getting my cardiovascular fitness up? or shuld I do more? I already stick to a strict regine of core muscle body workouts. But they just seem to work.

My diet is very good - I have essential supplements like fish oils and glucosimine to improve my joints. Try it! it helps alot! I have a balanced nutritional diet with plenty of carbohydrates. Im unsure on what to do.

swap some of those core work outs for bodyweight excercises, e.g pull ups , dips, handstand press ups, press ups, fat man pull ups. For lower body you can do things like squats, pistols, glute ham raises, glute bridges, calf/shin raises etc..

Please don't do pistol squats. A much safer alternative would be regular squats with weights or various types of lunges.

I agree with Teg, Pistols are only for if you already have very strong stable legs, other wise your knees will tend to bow in putting pressure on the medial collateral ligament ( not good)

best exercises are no exercises. drink milk, eat cookies, pig tails and lollypops

You shouldnt be doing too many weights at your age, stick to things like pushups, and tricep dips. If you do too much muscle building at your age, it will bend and weaken the bones as they grow. Ruin your arms for the rest of your life if your not careful. So please stick to basics like the push-ups, Tricep-dips that sort of thing.

lifting weights will not bend and weaken bones!

For now stick to body weight exercises and try play and involve your self in a good number of sports

Will, If the muscles are trained at uneven rates they WILL pull on the bones, same as if they are trained too much while the bones are developing. causing them to bend.

*face palm*

Exercise if anything would cause the bones to ossify more, meaning they'd be stronger , and LESS likely to bend or break. ( this is also why some people say it can stunt your growth)
